SPAIN'S FUNNIEST FICER GOES GLOBAL
Undoubtedly the revelation event of FIC BCN '12 was Spain´s first ever English language stand Up comedy competition. Over 3 heats and a hotly contested final comprising the 9 best qualifiers, the process eventually produced one winner - Josep Català. (A local catalan, the only one in a field of 'Guiris' who went on to support the great Rich Hall as part of his prize... see right)
It was a remarkable performance by the non native speaker whose skills were first honed in the Logan Murray comedy Workshop as was the 2013 Champion Stephanie Figueira (see right) showing the value of the workshop Stephanie went to the big stage to compete set to set against the Madrid representative Josh Saxon in a Comedy Clasicò supporting the amazing Marcus Brigstocke and walked away with the 1st proper Funniest FICer title and a bunch of Stoke Travel goodies. The standard continues to rise and the BCN final last year proved an impossible task for judges as there was at least 6 worthy winners amongst the finalists covering the full range of performance comedy from character, to storytellers to straight up gag slingers. The thing we are most proud of in FIC Towers is each year the catalyst it creates and legacy it leaves at a grassroots level in each city. We expect 2014 to be better than ever!! Funniest ficers go hollywood!!
For the first time this year we have hooked up with Hollywoods infamous Laugh Factory who are inviting contestants from all over the world to compete in an international competition for the opportunity to go to Hollywood and go set to set with the chance of winning $10,000!!!
And... all the extra exposure that the title of 'Funniest Person in the World' that the Laugh Factory intend to bestow on the successful participant will offer. The Laugh Factory prize also offers $1000 to the 5 participants who make it through their initial stage with an invitation to perform in their Hollywood club
